IT ALL STARTED 29 Years Ago.
Maine Woodworks was founded in 1991 as a social enterprise of Creative Works, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit that supports individuals with disabilities throughout Maine.
Comprised of an integrated workforce employing people both with and without disabilities, Maine Woodworks was founded with one overarching goal: to provide meaningful employment to individuals with disabilities.
Today, with a full and vibrant team of craftspeople, Maine Woodworks builds a beautiful and customizable line of colorful cottage furniture that is benchcrafted and built to order, one piece at a time. It is a successful and self-sustaining social enterprise that fully supports the Creative Works mission: to support and inspire people with disabilities at home, at work and in the community, and to break down barriers that limit opportunities for individuals with disabilities to lead productive and fully engaged lives.
